The present tense

The present tense is the most irregular tense of French language. We learn it first. At the end of this course, you will master the conjugations of the Present tense as well as the infinitive forms of the verbs.

The basic structures of French

You will understand and master the basic structures of French language. We will also have had a look at the global structure of French language, so that from the very beginning you know what the global architecture of French language looks like.

The determiners

The determiners are these little words that you put in front of the nouns (le, la, les, un, une, des, etc.). They take the gender and the number of the nouns and they help to identify the nouns. At the end of the course, you will understand and master their usage.

The nouns

The nouns designate the things populating the world. In French, they have a gender and a number. At the end of the course, you will understand and master their usage.

The Compound past is the second most difficult tense after the present tense. We use it to tell accomplished actions with no duration. You will learn to use it in combination with the other tenses of the indicative mood, like the imperfect, the present tense and the pluperfect.

The imperfect

The imperfect is also called the “present of the past”. We use it to tell past actions that had a duration. We also use it to describe an atmosphere and to tell past habits. At the end of this course, you will master it and be able to use it in combination with the compound past, the pluperfect and the conditional present.
