Methodical structure of this course :

A dedicated chapter for each one of the 41 French sounds :

In this course, each one of the 41 sounds of French has a dedicated chapter to better guide you with the learning of French pronunciation.

Each chapter is made of :

  • Step n°1 : 1 HD video lesson to learn how to pronounce the sound you are studying,
  • Step n°2 : 2 listening exercises to educate your ears to hear, recognize and distinguish the sound,
  • Step n°3 : 1 reading and pronunciation exercise with Words in Colors to train you for the different spellings (ways to write) of the sound,
  • Step n°4 : 1 Tongue Twister exercise to train for difficult pronunciation. You will have the opportunity to record yourself in a video and post it in the forum of the course to receive a feedback from Gil, the French teacher.

In each Chapter, 4 steps to learn each French sound :

Step n°1 : Learn to pronounce the French sound with the video lesson :

You will start each chapter of this course with a 3 minute video lesson to learn how to position your mouth, tongue, lips, jaw to properly pronounce each French sound.

Step n°2 : Exercise to listen, recognize and distinguish the French sound :

After having learned how to pronounce each sound with the video lesson, you will do 2 exercises to train your ears to listen, recognize and distinguish the French sound from the other ones.

Step n°3 : Exercise to learn to decode (and read) the difficult written French

The exercise n°3 is probably the most important of all. It will train you for the most frequent spellings of each sounds. In French, each sound can be written in many different ways. Sometimes, several letters can be composing only one sound. This exercise will train you for the most frequent spellings of each sound.

Step n°4 : Record yourself in a video saying 1 of the 3 tongue twisters, post your video in the group and get a feedback from Gil :

To check your French pronunciation and get a feedback about it, you will be able to record yourself in a video saying 1 of the 3 tongue twisters and post it in the forum of the Pronunciation group to get a feedback from Gil (your French teacher) and to learn from other students who have posted their videos as well.

Materials used in this Course

The 2 Maps of your French Mouth in Colors©

In this course, a unique color will be attributed to each sound of French language. These colors will help you to pronounce and read the difficult written French.

From one chapter to the next, from one sound to the next we will construct methodically the two Maps of your French Mouth in Colors©.

These two maps will help you to distinguish the French sounds that are very closed and similar to each other.

The first map is the map of the French vowel sounds and the second map is the map of the French consonant sounds.

The 41 Drawings of the French Sounds in Colors©

In this course, the HD videos lessons will explain you how to produce each one of the French Sounds.

Thanks to the Drawings of the French Sounds in Colors©, you’ll be able to visualize how to properly position your lips, jaws and tongue to pronounce each sound of French.

You’ll be able to download each one of these Drawings of the French Sounds in Colors© inside the course to train by yourself at home.

The 100's of Words in Colors©

Once you will be able to produce each new sound of French properly, you will train to pronounce French with hundreds of carefully chosen French Words in Colors©.

These Words in Colors© will train you for the most frequent spellings of each sound of French. Because in French, a single sound can be written in many different ways.

You need to be trained for these patterns of the written French.

The Tongue Twisters in Colors©

At the end of the study of each sound, 3 Tongue Twisters in Colors© will be proposed to you as an exercise.

You will have the possibility to record yourself in a video saying one of these three Tongue Twisters in Colors© and post it in the forum of the Pronunciation Group associated with this course.

If you don’t want to participate to this community exercise, because you don’t want to post video of yourself, no problem. You are free to do so. But you will simply not have feedback about your French pronunciation from the French teacher and the other students in this course.

You can simply train for these Tongue Twisters in Colors© by yourself and continue to the next sound without posting any video in the Pronunciation Group.

If you want to participate to the Tongue Twisters in Colors© exercises, you will need a webcam or a camera to record yourself saying the Tongue Twisters in Colors©.

If you don't want to participate to this Tongue Twister in Colors© contest, you are free to do so and will still be able to follow this course normally.
